all characters and events in this journal-- even those based on real people-- are entirely fictional. all celebrity voices are impersonated.....poorly. the following journal contains coarse language and due to it's content it should not be viewed by anyone.

PRESIDENT ELECT BARACK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot about the best part of my week: last night's Office!!!

If you did not go to Cornell, you might not have loved it as much as I did, but I thought it was pretty much the greatest thing ever. EVER EVER EVER.

Andy: Remember when I jokingly yelled at you to take your sweatshirt off? Totally joking. But, you should know, those colors are sacred. Not that I care. But if you're not a Cornell man, you probably shouldn't wear them.

Dwight: Hey there. So uh, how do you think we're gonna do against Penn this year? Nathan Ford's arm looks pretty strong.
Andy: Well he's had a pretty good season so far--- Stop saying "we." You did not go to Cornell. Okay, you're just doing this to screw with me.
Dwight: Not so. Cornell is an excellent school. Without its agricultural program, we probably wouldn't have cabbage. At least not modern cabbage.
Andy: I know it's an excellent school, Dwight. I went there. My blood runs Big Red.
Dwight: Someday, we'll both get together in Comstock Hall and just laugh about all of this.

Andy: It's pronounced "Corn-ell!" It's the highest rank in the Ivy League!

yom kippur live blog

true life, i'm live blogging my yom kippur fast here.

i may be the only person on the interwebs crazy enough to do this.

wow...

lo. the losties
a meme from violet_quill, based on the fact that sarah palin (potential [vice] president of the united states) apparently cannot name a single supreme court decision besides roe v. wade.

The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic, to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun.

The first to pop into my head was Bush v. Gore, but we all know how that one ends... (catastrophically)

So let's talk about two that I enjoy: Grutter v. Bollinger and Gratz v. Bollinger. These are the Michigan affirmative action cases from not that long ago. In Grutter, the court held that special consideration of minority status in admissions is not a violation of the fourteenth amendment. In Gratz, the court ruled that a point system that assigned more points to a minority is a violation of the fourteenth amendment.

I could go into a lot of detail now, but I am tired so I will not. I did write a paper on this at some point that I can dig up if anyone is interested, and I am willing to discuss and debate... tomorrow.
